WASM OCR · 100% Private · Zero Uploads

Turn Scanned PDFs into EditableWord Documents. Privately.

Standard converters read the text inside a PDF — but scanned PDFs contain only images. In-browser WebAssembly OCR recognizes your scanned characters and rebuilds them into real, editable Word paragraphs. Zero uploads, zero file caps.

Scanned PDF → Editable Word

Turn image-only PDFs into real, editable Word text.

Drop in your scanned contract, book page, or invoice. Choose your OCR language, let WebAssembly recognize the characters locally, and export an editable .docx you can open in Microsoft Word.

How it Works

Three steps to editable Word text.

Nothing leaves your device — the whole pipeline runs locally in WebAssembly.

01

Upload your scanned PDF

Drag in any scanned PDF — contracts, book pages, printed documents. It stays in your browser's memory, forever private.

02

Choose language & let OCR run

Pick from 40+ OCR languages and a paragraph-preserving layout mode. Tesseract.js WebAssembly maps the characters on every page.

03

Download the editable .docx

Export a real Word file with reconstructed paragraphs and headings — ready to edit in Word, Docs, or LibreOffice.

Standing Comparison

This OCR converter vs cloud PDF-to-Word tools.

Cloud converters read text layers; scanned PDFs have none. Here's how a real difference maps to your privacy and your wallet.

FeatureThis ToolTypical Cloud Converter
Scanned PDF supportFull Tesseract WebAssembly OCRBlank output, or paywalled "OCR" upgrade
File privacy100% local browser, zero uploadsUploaded to remote servers, stored & scrapped
CostFree forever, no accounts$15–$30/mo subscription tiers
File & page capsNoneDaily caps, per-page limits

Standard conversion even "successfully" returns a textless PDF — which is why scanned documents need a real OCR engine like the one embedded here.

Guide

Why scanned PDFs need real OCR — and standard converters fail

When a PDF was created digitally (from Word, Figma, LaTeX, or a browser print), it keeps a hidden text layer. A converter only has to read that stream and re-tag it. When a document was scanned, the PDF stores only images of the pages. There is no text inside — which is why "PDF to Word" tools appear to output blank or annoyingly image-only pages.

Solving this requires OCR (Optical Character Recognition): the engine looks at the pixels per line, maps them to characters, and reconstructs words, lines, and text blocks. Instead of a cloud job, this tool ships Tesseract.js as WebAssembly — the engine runs the same algorithm entirely inside your tab.

What "reconstructs paragraphs & structure" actually does

The converter reads each page as a raster, runs the OCR locally, then groups recognized lines into reading-order paragraphs with preserved line breaks. The workspace shows you the recognized text before you export — so a misread character can be fixed in a second, and the .docx comes out cleanly.

Get the best results

  • Match the language. Choosing the exact language model measurably lifts accuracy — English scans default to English, but a Spanish invoice should use Español.
  • Use the page range. For 200-page books, narrowing 1-20 pages runs far faster than a full read.
  • Keep scans legible. Higher DPI and square alignment make word mapping cleaner.
  • Edit in the workspace. Fix OCR slips in the editable panel before you download the Word file.
